     Jan and Cornelius came to New Netherland in 1663.⁸ Cornelis was a 'member of the troop of horse'. He made a will on 25 February 1689. It was probated 18 March 1705/6. It mentions his wife Meetye Bastiaense; her eldest son Jan Cornelisen; other (unnamed) sons and daughters; and Meetye Devoor, daughter of Daniel Devoor.^6,9
     In 1675 Cornelius and Laurens divided lands that had been bought jointly. These lands composed the beginnings of resp. the Kortright and Low families. Laurens descendents use the surname Low, Cornelis' descendents use the Kortright (later Courtright and other variations.)¹⁰
     NOTE: An unknown source has place of birth of the daughters as Beest, The Netherlands; but as he came to New Netherland in 1663, this seems unlikely.^11,12 Name variation: Cornelis Janszen.

Elisha Courtright was born on 19 June 1744 at Monroe County, PA. He was baptized on 13 January 1745 at Walpack, Sussex County, NJ, (DRC.)¹ He (1) married Alida Dingman before 1768. Elisha Courtright (2) married Martha (?) after 1816. Elisha Courtright died in 1821 at Salem, Luzerne County, PA. He was buried in Beach Grove Cemetery.

Elisha moved to Wyoming Valley, PA about 1774, first in Hanover and later to Salem, Luzerne Co., PA. This Elisha is confused with an Elisha (21543), son of Aaron, similar wife's name, etc. Will probated Aug 22, 1821. Copy of Will in Genealogy of Mrs. Ellis B. Wainscott, Dixon, IL 61021 (copied from info at Minisink Historical Society Library.)
Elisha settled in the Wyoming Valley and was killed in the Wyoming Massacre according to Bussing Genealogy but death date doesn't agree. Same info in Riker's book on Harlem. Family arranged in agreement with Riker's book. Name variation: Elisha Kortright.
