     1656. May 17. Oloff Stevensz, as co-guardian of the minor children of Jan Van Rotterdam, dec'd., and the deceased's son, Jan Jansz, about 15 years old, of the first part, and Corn. Jansz Clopper of the second part, enter into the following agreement: Jan Jansz, aforesaid, hires himself out to Corn. Jansz Clopper, for three consecutive years, for the purpose of learning the trade of blacksmith. During his apprenticeship said Clopper is to provide said Jan Jansz with board, lodging and clothing, and at the end of the three years provide him with a decent outfit of clothing and pay him the amount of 130 Carolus guilders.⁴ Cornelis Jansen Clopper was a Master Smith.³ He and Heyltje Pieters made a will on 10 September 1669. Letters of Administration were granted to Heyltje Clopper on 24 Jun 1693. They mention their minor children Dina, Margaretta, Johannah, Catharina, and Petrenella.³

     Dina Clopper was baptized on 25 September 1658 at New York City (DRC) (sp. Robbert Roelantszen and Tryntie de Haes; father Cornelis Janszen Clopper, mother Heyltie Pieters.)^1,2 She died between 1669 and 1675.^3,4

Yorke; she Maryken Sourt, jd as above, both living here.)⁴ Johannes Clopper (2) married Margareta Hagen on 24 May 1688 at New York City (DRC) (on Ascension Thurday.)^5,6 (Banns on 5 May 1688. He was Johannes Clopper, Widr of Maryken Sourt; she Margareta Hagen, jd fron Amsterdam, both living here.)⁶ Johannes Clopper died before 1 April 1695.⁷

     He died intestate. His wife Margaret was appointed administratrix on 1 Apr 1695. The inventory was taken 22 May 1695. The final settlement on 9 Jul 1697 mentions his daughter Ilien by his former wife, and children Cornelius and Anna by Magdalena. Ilien chose her grandfather Siourt Olphertsz as guardian.⁷
