Theunis Nyssen1,2

M, b. circa 1615, d. July 1662
Theunis Nyssen was from Bunnick, in't sticht Van Uytr acc. to his marriage certificate.2,1,3 He married Femmetje Jans at New York City (DRC.)2,4,3 (Banns on 11 February 1639/40. He was Theunis Nyssen, jm from Bunninck, in't sticht Van Uytr; she Phaebea Faelix, jd from Jarleston, in Engelt.)1,2 Theunis Nyssen died in July 1662 at Brooklyn.5

Family

Femmetje Jans b. 1 May 1626, d. 13 Dec 1666
Children
Teunis was in North America as early as 1638. He removed to a farm on Manhattan Island and settled on a farm in Gowanus near Brouwers. He and Femmetje Jans were member of the Reformed Dutch Church in Brooklyn in 1660.5,6
Theunis had possibly more children, Aertje, Teunis, James, Joris. On 8 Jun 1667 Jan Cornelisse Buys, widower of Femmetjen Jans dec'd, declared the surviving children of Femmetjen Jans by Teunes Niessen dec'd, to be Eelsyn Teunes, Femmetjen, Jan, Denies, and Corneles Teunesen.7,3 His parents were Dionysius Cornelisz and Jennichjen Geerlofs. but acc. to Turse they were Nys Denyse and Helena Van Brunt, but that seems wrong.5,8
NOTE: James Turse has Geertje Dirks De Nyse as daughter of Theunis Nyssen and his wife. This seems impossble, as Theunis married in 1640, and Geertje has her first child in 1650. Also as daughter of Teunis, Geertje would not be Geertje Dirks.9
Jacob Danielszen, wid. of Neeltje Huygen, and Annetje Minnen, wid. of Corn. Nyssen, marry 5 Nov 1661 in NYDC. Is Cornelis a brother of Theunis? Nothing else connects.10,11 Name variation: Teunis De Nys.3 Name variation: Teunis Nyssen.3
