     Hiram Axtell was born on 11 November 1803 at Pennsylvania.¹ He married Lucy Ann Hazen, daughter of Samuel Hazen and Elizabeth DeWitt, on 28 October 1830 at Morrow County, OH.¹ Hiram Axtell died on 28 February 1839 at Mt. Gilead, OH.¹

     Mary Axtell was born in 1837.¹ She (1) married James VanStone, son of John Van Stone and Urrsla White.¹ Mary Axtell (2) married (?) Williams.¹ Mary Axtell died in 1912.¹ She was buried in Gates Road Cemetery.¹

     Benjamin B Aycrigg was born on 21 September 1824 at New York.^2,4 He married Catherine E Anderson, daughter of David I Anderson. Benjamin B Aycrigg died on 8 June 1888 at Passaic, Passaic County, NJ.⁵

     In the 1855 census Benjamin B Aycrigg and David I Anderson are enumerated next door to each other in Lodi. Both households consist of 1 male and 2 females.⁶ The 1860 census lists Benjamin B Aycrigg and Catherine E at Acquackanonck Township, Passaic County, NJ, with four children, all b. NJ: Anna (5), John and Jane (3), and William (1). His mother Jane Aycrigg (60, b. NJ) and prob. brother Thomas (28, b. NJ) live in the same house. Rose (19) and Ellen Charlough (27), both b. Ireland, are servants with resp. Benjamin and Jane; Hannah Phalen (25, b. Ireland) is a servant with Jane.² Benjamin B Aycrigg was a physician.² The 1870 census listed Benjamin B Aycrigg in Jane Aycrigg's household at Acquackanonck Township, NJ.⁷
     At their daughter Jeanie's marriage in 1906 in Manhattan to William Valentine, her parents are given as Benjamin Bogert Aycrigg and Catherine Anderson. Jeanie is 48, William is 56, son of Isaac Henry Valentine and Euphenie Brown. At Jeannie's death (14 Jun 1913; bur. 17 Jun 1913) she is listed as Jeannie Gardener Aycrigg Valentine; and her parents as Benjamin Bogert Aycrigg and Catherine Elisabeth Anderson. Her husband D.W.A. Anderson is still alive.^8,9
     He applied for a passport in 1882, possibly to go to Cuba (see image after the application). The notiation "Accompanied by two daughters" is crossed out.⁴

     Jane Aycrigg was born in 1800 at New Jersey.¹ She married John B Aycrigg.²

     The 1850 census lists John B Aycrigg and Jane at Acquackanonck Township, Passaic County, NJ, with Benjamin B Aycrigg and Thomas Aycrigg.² The 1860 census listed Jane Aycrigg in Benjamin B and Catherine E Aycrigg's household at Acquackanonck Township, NJ.¹ The 1870 census lists Jane Aycrigg at Acquackanonck Township, NJ, with Rose Sherlock (30, b. Ireland) and Maria Post (60, b. NJ). Benjamin B Aycrigg, his wife Catherine E and their children (Anna (17), John B (14) and Jenny G (12), Willie A (11), Katie (9), and Benj A (7)) live in the same house; as well as Charlotte Day (20, b. CT) and Johanna Carny (20, b. Ireland.)³

     John B Aycrigg was born in 1798 at New York.¹ He married Jane Aycrigg.¹ John B Aycrigg died before 1860.

     Nancy Ayers was born on 3 November 1804 at Morristown, NJ.¹ She married Oliver Hedden, son of Thomas Hedden and Sarah Bryam, on 1 September 1830 at Morris County, NJ.¹ Nancy Ayers died on 10 January 1893.¹

     Elizabeth Ayres was born at Mt. Bethel, PA.¹ She married Benjamin DePuy, son of Abraham DePuy and Sussannah Hoffman.¹

     The Ayres (Eyres) has been traced to a knight at the time of William the Conqueror.¹ Married name: DePuy.

     Rebecca Ayres married Cornelius Vreeland, son of Cornelius M Vreeland and Catherine Newkirk.¹ Rebecca Ayres died in 1908.²

     William DeWitt Ayres was born on 11 February 1903 at Branchville, NJ.¹ He married Ruth Ellanore Peebles.¹

     He was admitted to Portsmouth, RI on 25 Feb 1642. He was commissioner to the Gen. Court date of 1657, 1658, 1659. They removed to Westerly, RI in Mar 1662.¹

     James Babcock was born circa 1641 at Portsmouth, RI.¹ He married Jane Brown, daughter of Nicholas Brown.¹ James Babcock died in 1698 at Westerly, RI.¹

     James Babcock was a blacksmith and farmer. He manufactured iron from bog ore and black sand from the sea shore.¹

     James Babcock was born in 1663 at Westerly, RI.¹ He (1) married Elizabeth Saunders circa 1687.¹ James Babcock (2) married Content Maxson, daughter of Jonathan Maxson and Content Rogers, on 27 July 1731.¹ James Babcock died on 17 January 1736/37.¹

     Joseph Babcock was born in 1670.¹ He (1) married Dorothy Key.¹ Joseph Babcock (2) married Hannah Coats.¹

     Joshua Babcock was born on 17 May 1707.¹ He (1) married Hannah Stanton on 11 August 1735.¹ Joshua Babcock (2) married Ann Maxson on 28 May 1780.¹ Joshua Babcock died on 1 April 1783.¹ He was buried in Westerly.¹

     Nicholas Jansen Backer married Anneken Hartmans in 1652 in Arnhem; was widower of Annetje Hermans at 2nd marriage on 1670. According to the FGS of Claes Backer (Jansen is crossed out) Claes Backer is bapt. 8 Jun 1648 in NYC, which would make him 22, when he married (2) in 1670. Not impossible, but one might expect to find the first marriage in NYC as well, but it is not found in the 4 years previous. Marritie is a widow as well (she was married to Frans before 21 May 1661, when she appeared as Maryken Gerrits, wife of Frans Janse van Hoogte, carpenter); at the baptism of Saertie in 1676 a Hertman Wesselszen is one of the sponsors. Nicholas Jansen Backer is sponsor at the baptism of Anna Wessels, daughter of Warnert Wessels & (1) Debora Pieters Beeck.
