Charles enlisted on 14 Jul 1862 in Topsfield, ME, and was mustered into service on 22 Aug 1862. He was stationed in Washington for 22 months doing fatigue duty. On 1 Jan 1863 he was transferred from 18th Maine to Company A, First Maine Heavy Artillery. He was shot in a battle near Petersburg and received a sucking chest wound. He eventually recovered and was discharged in Augusta, Me on 18 Apr 1865.² Charles H Morrison lived at Lambert Lake Settlement, ME.¹
