Lemuel attended Cornell for one year but had to drop out due to lack of funds.¹ Lemuel Ellsworth Hendee was a partner in the Line Material Company in South Milwaukee. The company made equipment used in outdoor electrical transmission and Lem designed much of their products. The company was sold to Westinghouse many years later and Lem received about a million dollars.¹
