Geertruid ten Bruggencate was from in Almelo at her marriage.1 She married (NH) Harmen Spijker on 17 Apr 1707 in Almelo1,5 (banns (NH) 3 Apr 1707, Almelo.)1 She died b 11 May 1762, because her will was probated.2

Geertruid ten Bruggencate with her guardian Secr. Hein made a will on 13 Oct 1755. She names as sole heir Baerent Spijker, the children of her late son Harmannus Spijkers, husband of Henrica Ruijnck, her daughter Fenneke Spijkers wife of Hermen ten Bruggencate Benj.zn, and also the children of her late son Gerrit Spijkers, from Gronouw. She appoints as guardians over the children of her son Gerrit Spijkers, her son Baerent Spijker and her son-in-law Harmen ten Bruggenkate Benjzn to administer their inheritance until their majority. She wishes that her son Baerent Spijker and his wife and children will get the house, which he is presently renting, as well as the dwellings behind it, and the garden at the end of the city, for a payment of ƒ3100.-. She made her will at Harmen ten Bruggenkate Benjzn's house.6 Geertruid ten Bruggencate's estate was probated on 11 May 1762. Harmen ten Bruggenkate Benjzn, wife of Fenneke Spijker, Geesken ten Bruggencate, widow of Berent Spijker, as guardian over her minor children, Hermannus Spijkers and Albert Spijkers, sons of Hermannus Hzn, who are of age, and also their mother, the widow of Hermannus Spijker, the guardian over her minor children Geertruij Spijker and Jannes Spijcker. In addition forementioned Harmen ten Bruggenkate Benjzn together with Hendricus Arentze are guardians over the children of the late Gerrit Spijker, all children and grandchildren of the late widow of Hermen Spijker. They present a closed envelop, containing the will of the widow of Hermen Spijker.2

Geertruid ten Bruggencate, widow of Harmen Spijker, for herself and as guardian for her minor daughter Fenneke Spijker, with her guardian ex-burgemeester Albertus Bastiaan, and also Harmannus Spijkers and his wife Henrica Ruinx, Baerent Spijker and his wife Geesken ten Bruggencate, and for her absent son Gerrit Spijkers and his wife Catharina Aleida Poortenaar took out a mortgage with Albertus Bastiaan, and his wife Anna Christina Lubelei, with as collateral their house and yard with the dwellings in the rear, in which she and her son Baerent Spijker are living, between the house of Hendricus Arentze and the Richtersalley. The dwellings in the rear are presently occupied by Lens Kruiderink and the widow of Harmen Spijker.7

Geertruid ten Bruggencate, widow of Harmen Spijker, for herself and as guardian of her minor daughter Venneken Spijker, with her guardian burgemeester Albertus Bastiaan, and also Hermannus Spijker and his wife Henrica Ruinx, Baerent Spijker and his wife Geesken ten Bruggencate, als for her absent son Gerrit Spijkers and his wife Catharina Aleida Poortenaar, give their house of 3 dwellings, between the house of Cornelis Baerschers and the alley to the Schutte to A. P. Z. Graaf van Rechteren, Lord of Almelo and Vriezenveen, as collateral for the six-year lease on the mill, which Baerent Spijker together with Evert Voerknegt will operate.5
