11 May 1657: Jan Corn. Van Rotterdam had been killed in the Indian uprising of 1643. On May 11, 1657, Claes Carstens of Sant in Norway, 50 years old, Evert Duyckingh of Boocken, 36 years, and Isack Kip of Amsterdam, 30 years, declare that three minor children of said Jan Corn, are living at New Amsterdam. Jan Corn. Van Rotterdam's widow was Aeltie Jansz Van Bremen, who died in 1645 at New Amsterdam. The children are Jan, now c. 17 y.o.), Marretie (c. 18 y.o), and Cornelis (c. 15 y.o). Martha Contant and Isaac Contant immigrated on 27 February 1896 on the SS. Noordam, from Antwerp, arriving in New York on 27 Feb 1896, with 10 children: Johannes (18), Jannis (17), Isaak (13), Anna (19), Jannetje (15), Josina (2), Hendrika (3), Marie [sic] (7), Peter (11), and Marinus (8). They were travelling second cabin.3 The 1900 census lists Isaac Contant and Martha at Lodi Twp, Bergen County, NJ, with their 11 children Annie J., Joseph D., John M., Jennie P., Isaac, Pieter M., Marinus, Arie, Henrietta P., Josina M. and Cornelius B. All but Cornelius are born in Holland. Isaac was indexed as James!4 The 1910 census lists Isaac Contant and Martha at Lodi, Bergen County, NJ, with five children: John M. (31), Pieter M. (25), Marinus (22), Arie (21), Josina M. (16), and Cornelius B. (13.)5 Her parents were Johannes Dagevos van Rij and Jannetje Hartog.2 Name variation: Maartje van Rij. Married name: Contant.

Catharina Van Rypen was born circa 1766.2 She married Jacob Elias Vreeland, son of Elias Vreeland and Lea Aeltse Van Riper, on 18 August 1784 (She was a widow.)3 Catharina Van Rypen died on 12 June 1835.2 She was buried in DRC Churchyard in Acquackanonck.2
