Great Grandmother Anna SPEARS Owned a few two family homes in the Garwood area, and owned two hotels in Asbury, Monmoth County, NJ. The relatives from Harry's side have a picture of one of the two hotels. Looking at the picture you really cant make any thing out. She was also known to handle the guest luggage. If it was too light or she thought it too heavy she would chase people out. No marriage certificate or wedding ring, it was ''Out"! Grandpa Robert Crawford would do repairs and any fixing. He was a master carpenter. One of the hotels cought fire, but we can't fine any newspaper story about it. Name variation: Mary M Spears (in 1880 census.) Married name: Crawford.

Thomas Spicer lived in 1637 at Sandwich, Kent, England.3 Thomas Spicer lived in 1638 at Newport, RI, and in 1640 in Portsmouth, RI, where he was the town treasurer in 1642.3,5
Thomas Spicer resided from 1643 at first on Manhattan Island and Throgg's Neck, LI. He appears in Lady Moody's Quaker Colony at Gravesend with a wife Michal and a son Samuel, b. before 1640. Later he was one of the first settlers on Gravesend - a patentee. He lived on the plains in Flatlands in 1646 after being driven from Gravesend by Indians (Colonial Records.)3,5 He made a will on 30 September 1658. It was probated 4 Nov 1738 (?)3 Michal, as Thomas' widow, was banished in 1661 and removed to Throggs Point. She sold the land in 1671. Son Jacob lived in Flatlands and Gravesend, LI.3
NOTE: It is actually not clear, whether Thomas of RI and Thomas of NY are the same person, although his name is last seen in RI Records in 1642, and appears in Gravesend in 1643, so it seems likely.5,6
