His parents were Ype Jans Bonnema and Beitske Jans van de Witte.1 Wytze Bonnema and Geertje Anema immigrated with their children Beitske, Oepke and Sjoerd on the SS Statendam. They left Rotterdam on 16 May 1901, and arrived in Ellis Island, New York on 26 May 1901. They were going to their son Jan Bonnema, who was living in Passaic. Their town of residence is listed as Witm (poss. Witmarsen). Wytze and Oepke are skippers, Beitske's occupation is unreadable.3,4 He and Geertje Anema were naturalized before 1915.4 Wytze Bonnema and Geertje Anema had 1 more child born in Wonseradeel: Oepke (9 May 1874, #B39, prob. died young.)5
