Oepke Bonnema immigrated with Wytze Bonnema and Geertje Anema with their children Beitske, Oepke and Sjoerd on the SS Statendam. They left Rotterdam on 16 May 1901, and arrived in Ellis Island, New York on 26 May 1901. They were going to their son Jan Bonnema, who was living in Passaic. Their town of residence is listed as Witm (poss. Witmarsen). Wytze and Oepke are skippers, Beitske's occupation is unreadable.5,1 Opke W. Bonnema was a teamster in 1910, and a millhand in 1915.3,1 Wietse (Will) Bonnema and Irene Bonnema must have travelled to Holland, as they arrived on 17 January 1912 on the SS Olympic at Ellis Island from Southhampton, where they had left on 10 Jan 1912. Their last residence was Paterso, and they were going to Paterson, 127 Midland Ave in Garfield.4 Opke W. Bonnema and Romke Nieuwland were naturalized before 1915.1
