Johannes and Sara were listed in the NYDC memberlist of 1686 as "Johannes Van Couwenhoven and his wife Sara Frans" (member #551-2, name #686-7.)10,11 Johannes Van Couwenhoven was named as executor in Isaac Van Vleck's will dated 16 January 1688.12 Johannes Van Couwenhoven made a will on 17 June 1690. Probate was dated 9 -- 1689/90. Letters of administration granted to wife Sarah on 2 Feb 1690 (OS?). He mentions his wife Sarah and eldest son Jacob; and minor unnamed children. On 14 Apr 1693 letters of administration were granted to John Byvanck, who married the widow of Johanes Cowenhoven.13,9 Name variation: John Kouenhowen.6
