The 1880 census lists Oscar Mapes and Adlade at Middletown, Orange County, NY, with their children Winfield, Jennie, Jesse and Stephen; Cornelia Mapes (aged 21, sister); Chas. Lonsberey (aged 20, farm worker); and Carrie Senior (aged 30, school teacher.)1 Name variation: Oscar Mapes.1

Rachel Mapes was born circa 1717.2 She married Hezekiah Reeves on 16 October 1739 at Southold, Suffolk County, NY.3,4 Rachel Mapes died on 23 December 1776.

NOTE: Esther could be a daughter of the second wife, she is named after the first wife. It is not clear whether the Nathaniel Reeve (who married Esther) is the same as Nathaniel Reeves (who married Rachel). The Mapes book lists his parents as Joseph Reeves and Abigail at the marriage with Rachel.5 Married name: Reeves.
