     Jan W. Hakstege and Maria Hakstege immigrated on 28 July 1894 on the Veendam, from Rotterdam, arriving in New York on 28 Jul 1894, with 5 children: Jetje (11), Jantje (9), Marietje (7), Lina (4) and Mina (2). They were going to Norwalk, CT.¹ Jan W. Hakstege was a coachman.^2,1 The 1900 census lists Jan W. Hakstege and Maria at #170 at Lodi Township, Bergen County, NJ, with five children: Nettie (Mar 1884), John (Apr 1885), Mary (Jul 1887), Lena (Jan 1891) and Minnie (Apr 1892.)³ The 1920 census lists Jan W. Hakstege at 24 Arnett Place at Lodi Borough, Bergen County, NJ, with his daughter Minnie.⁴ His parents were Jan Willem Hakstege and Hendrina Bosman.²

     Minnie Hakstege was born on 2 April 1892 at The Netherlands.^1,3 She died on 3 March 1975 at Pascack Valley Hospital, Westwood, Bergen County, NJ.¹ She was buried on 5 March 1975 in East Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clifton.¹

     Minnie Hakstege lived after 1945 at 116 Adams Ave at River Edge, Bergen County, NJ, She was living at 116 Adams Ave, when she died.⁴

Acc. to the Family Tree, Mary Ann married twice: (1) to Randolph Platues; (2) to Doyle, with whom she has a son Albert. Abraham Gurney married a Mary Ann Doyle in 1863; Mary Ann Gurney is living with a step-daughter of Mary E. Hall Koman in 1885. Mary E. Hall is (acc. to the tree) the daughter of John Mordecai Hall; she married (1) John M. Baud, with whom she had a daughter, who died young; in the 1900 census she had one child, none living.
