     Hendrick Buys was baptized on 15 March 1654 at New York City (DRC) (sponsors: Jan Gerritszen, Gysbert Lubbertszen, and Marritie; father Jan Cornelis Buys, mother not listed.)^1,2 He was buried in 1666 at Flatlands.³

     Hendrick Buys was baptized on 26 October 1702 at Brooklyn (DRC) (sponsors: Abram Metzelaar and Haremtje his wife; father Jacob Buys, mother Marytje; child not named.)^2,1 He married Antje.¹

     Hendricktje Janse Buys was born circa 1658.² She (1) married Cornelis Verwey.³ Hendricktje Janse Buys (2) married Reynier Bastiaensen Van Giesen on 17 October 1699 ('on the Polvly' (Pollifly.)^4,5,3,6) (Banns on 1 October 1699 at DRC, Bergen, NJ.      Jan Cornelisse Buys was born on 20 August 1629 at Bunnik, Utrecht, The Netherlands.¹ He (1) married Eybetie Lubberts, daughter of Lubbert Gysbertsen Van Blarcom and Divertje Cornelis, circa 1651.^1,3,4,5 Jan Cornelisse Buys (2) married Femmetje Jans at Midwout, NY.^6,7,8 (Banns on 24 August 1663 at DRC, Brooklyn.      Jan Cornelisse Buys and Willemtje Tyssen made a will on 29 November 1686. It was probated 28 Jan 1689/90. It mentions Willempje's four children, two by Roelof Willems.⁴
     He took the oath of allegiance in Sep 1687. He had been in the country 39 years.¹¹
     While Jan Cornelisse Buys was also called Damen, he is not the same as Jan Cornelis Damen, who married Fytie Martens. They are contemporaries, but the first seems to have used mostly Buys, the second used exclusively Damen; it is unclear who Jan Cornelis Damen's father is; Jan Cornelisse Buys's mother had two brothers Cornelis.
     NYG&B has a note with the deed, that Jan came from Bunnik; and lists 13 children.¹² Name variation: Jan Cornelis Buys.¹⁰ Name variation: Jan Damen (He was adopted by his uncle Jan Janse Damen.)^4,13
