     Abraham ten Cathe was born in 1689.3 He (1) married (NH) Anneken ten Cathe, daughter of Harmen ten Cate and Catharina Gerdes, in Almelo2,1 (banns (NH) 14 Feb 1717, Almelo.)2 He (2) married (NH) Stijntje ten Cathe, daughter of Lambert ten Cate and Maria Schimmelpennink, in Almelo1,6,3 (banns (NH) 22 Dec 1725, Almelo.)1 He died on 14 Nov 1766 in Almelo.3,7

He was baptized (Doopsgez.) in 1709.3 He lived at the time of his marriage in Almelo.1,2
Abraham ten Cathe made a will on 24 Jul 1754. He names as sole heir his 2 children from his 1st marriage, Lambert ten Cate and Harmen ten Cate, and his 4 children from his 2nd marriage, Lambertus ten Cate, Abraham ten Cate, Elizabeth ten Cate and Maria ten Cate. He gives his wife Christina ten Cate ƒ3100.- and yearly ƒ12.- until his deathday. If she would die before testator, these amounts will go to his 4 children from his 2nd marriage. He gives in advance to his 4 children from his 2nd marriage ƒ2000.- and also ƒ50.- per annum until his deathday.7 Abraham ten Cathe's estate was probated on 2 Jan 1767. Christina ten Cate, widow of Abraham ten Cathe, merchant, in the presence of Harmen ten Cate, Lambert ten Cate, R:Witness2], also for his brother Lambertus ten Cate, and Christina ten Cate, also as mother and guardian over her minor daughter Maria ten Cate, with her guardian Dr. E. Dull, present the will of the late Abraham ten Cathe for probate.7

Andreas Prinsen, and Jan Princen and his wife Berentje Leusveld, and also Gerrit Prinsen took out a mortgage with Abraham ten Cathe, and his heirs, with as collateral their house and yard, between the house of the widow of Lucas Prinsen and that of Jannes Wanders.8

Stadsgericht, Almelo, 28 Apr 1732:
Conrad Wanders, and his wife Hendrikjen Smits took out a mortgage with Abraham ten Cate, and his wife Stientje ten Cate and heirs, with as collateral their house and yard, one part of which they had inherited from their parents, and the other they had bought from their brother, between the house of the children Jacobus van Vilsteren and that of Johan Prinsen.9

Stadsgericht, Almelo, 5 Jan 1729:
Claas Cuijper, and his wife Jenneke Nussink took out a mortgage with Abraham ten Cate, and his wife Stientje ten Cate and heirs, with as collateral their house and yard, partly inhabited by themselves, and partly bought from the widow of Jochem Sigmeijer between Klooren's house and the alley.10

Stadsgericht, Almelo, 15 Jan 1737:
Aalken Haxbergen, widow of Jan Tonnissen Voss, for herself, and as mother of her minor children, namely Antoni Voss and Geertruit Voss took out a mortgage with Abraham ten Cate, and his wife Stijntje ten Cathe, with as collateral their half house and yard, with the garden behind it, between the house of Isaak ten Bruggencate and that of Hendrik Wolters Post.11

Stadsgericht, Almelo, 5 May 1729:
Jan Princen, and his wife Berentje Leusveld, also for their cousin Reinier Reinierssen conveyed to Abraham ten Cathe, and his wife Stientje ten Cate, half of their house and yard, in which the sellers and Gerrit Prinsen are living, between the house of the widow of Lucas Prinsen and that of Jannes Warnaars.12

Stadsgericht, Almelo, 7 May 1734:
Jan Tromp, and his wife Engeltjen Baerschers took out a mortgage with Abraham ten Cathe, and his wife Stientje ten Cate and heirs, with as collateral their house and yard, behind the house of Albert Ruijnx and that of the widow of Gerrit Jeurlink.13

Stadsgericht, Almelo, 17 May 1737:
Hermanus Swam, and his wife Anna Maria Wessels took out a mortgage with Abraham ten Cathe, and his wife Stientje ten Cate, with as collateral their half house and yard, in which they are living, with the land behind it and the shed on it, between the half house of Gerrit Swam and the house of Jannes Kosters.14

Stadsgericht, Almelo, 9 Feb 1739:
Zenis van Lochem, and his wife Hermina Bolks took out a mortgage with Abraham ten Cate, and his wife Stientje ten Cate, with as collateral their house and yard, in which they are living, between teh house of Hendrik Paesschen and that of Jan Waernink, and also a piece of land just outside Almelo, next to the garden of Harmannus Spijkers and on the other side on the road across from the garden of the widow of Jan ten Cate Gerritszn. The mortgage was paid off on 4 Feb 1747.15

Stadsgericht, Almelo, 28 Jul 1739:
Hendrik ten Hoeve, and Gerrit Jan ten Hoeve conveyed to Abraham ten Cathe, and Jan Bakker with their resp. wives Stientje ten Cate and Maria Leppink and heirs, their half house and yard next to the house of Baerent Kreuwel.16

Stadsgericht, Almelo, 27 May 1741:
Harmannus Spijkers, and his wife Henrica Ruinx took out a mortgage with Abraham ten Cate, and his wife Stientje ten Cate and heirs, with as collateral their house and yard, with the land and the house behind it, in which they are living, between the house of ex-burgemeester Lucas Bruins and that of Lambert ten Bruggencate, and also theiur country house, located in the Bodden, next to the garden of Mr. Bolk. They had partially inherited these two parcels, and partially bought bought them from the other heirs.17

Stadsgericht, Almelo, 26 Apr 1742:
Claas Kuiper, and his wife Jenneken Noesink took out a mortgage with Abraham ten Cathe, and his wife Stientje ten Cate and heirs, with as collateral their house and yard, between Cluwer's house and the alley.18

Stadsgericht, Almelo, 14 Jan 1743:
Zenis van Lochem, and his wife Hermiena Bolk took out a mortgage with Abraham ten Cate, and his wife Stientje ten Cate and heirs, with as collateral their house and yard, between the house of Jan Waernink and that of the widow of Benjamin ten Bruggencate, in which Louis Reuvekamp is living, as well as a piece of land between the gardens of Hermannus Spijker and Ds. Rijsdijk.19

Stadsgericht, Almelo, 15 Feb 1752:
The house of Jan Tromp was conveyed to Abraham ten Cathe and his wife and heirs in a court ordered sale. The house was located behind the house of the widow of Harmannus Spijker, and was sold because of a court order on 8 Jan 1748 in favor of Abraham ten Cathe.20
