Jacobus Conradt van Elmendorf was born in 1647.1 He married Grietje Aertse Van Wagenen, daughter of Aart Jacobse Van Wagenen and Annetje Gerrits, on 28 January 1668 at Kingston, NY.1 Jacobus Conradt van Elmendorf died before November 1699.

Family

Grietje Aertse Van Wagenen
Children
Jacobus came to New Netherland before 1667 and settled at Wiltwyck (Kingston.)1 Jacobus Conradt van Elmendorf made a will in 1685. It was proved in Nov 1699.1
Jacobus belonged to one of the old Dutch 'border' families who lived on the border of Gelderland and Westphalia during and before the Eigthy Years War when the eastern boundaries of The Netherlands had not been firmly established. The population of this area was of pure Saxon blood. Many from these families were in the Dutch army during the Eighty Years War (1618-1648) that was waged mainly in the eastern borderlands. After the war many of these families emigrated to New Netherlands and elsewhere.
While Elmendorf file says the Elmendorf family lived on the border between Gelderland and Germany, Coenradt was born in Rijnsburg, which is in the province of South Holland. The town of Elmendorf is in Germany, about 60 miles from the Groningen-German border, probably in East Frisia.1 Name variation: Jacobus Elmendort.
