     Lubbert Lubberts was born between 1620 and 1626 at Meppel, The Netherlands.^2,3 He married Geesje Roelofse at The Netherlands.² Lubbert Lubberts died before 1 September 1687 at Flatbush, Long Island, NY.^4,5,2

     Lubbert came to New Netherland on the ship 'Hope' in 1662 with his wife and four children ages 9, 13, 17 and an infant. The ship arrived in New Amsterdam on 29 Jun 1662. Also on board was his brother Willem and his family. Note that the 13 y. old could be Cornelis, but then Jan (who could be the one who was buried in Bergen on 23 Aug 1674 as "Jan Lubberts, son of Lubbert Lubberts of Hackensack") would not be on the ship.^4,6,7,8
     He lived c. 1663 in Flatbush (BC-Families); and in 1676 in the Hackensack Valley (DeWitt). Lubbert and Geesje were members of the DRC Church in Hackensack in 1686 (BC-Families.)^7,6
     The earliest settler bearing the name of Westervelt in America were Lubbert Lubbertson and William Van Westervelt who came from the town of Meppel, Drenthe, Holland. They settled in Long Island.
     The earliest mention of the name Westervelt in Holland is that of Dirck Westervelt who was born 1475-1500 and married into the Van Wenkson family and from them sprung a large family.⁶      NOTE: Poppe and BC-Families have Jan Lubberts (Westervelt) b. c. 1656 in Meppel (son of Lubbert Lubbertsen Westervelt), m. Magdaleentje Van Blarcom. This seems to me a mix-up with Jan Lubbertsen Van Blarcom, who married Magdaleentje Theunis in 1659 (NYDC).      Mareytje Lubbertse was baptized on 2 July 1654 at Meppel, Drenthe, The Netherlands.^1,4,2 She married Hendrick Epke Banta, son of Epke Jacobs and Sistke Tietske Dircks, on 17 December 1678 at Bergen, NJ, (DRC) ('in the presence of the court of Bergen,' date also as 27 Dec.)^5,1,6,7,8 Mareytje Lubbertse died between 1685 and May 1695?¹

     Marritie Lubbers was from Amsterdam when she married.² She (1) married Abraham de Lanoy.³ Marritie Lubbers (2) married Fredrick Gysbertszen van den Berge on 18 March 1663 at New York City (DRC) (He was Fredrick Gysbertszen Van den Berge, wid. of Pleuntie Gysberts; she Marritje Lubberts, wid. of Abraham La Noye.)^4,5

     Marritie Lubbers and Abraham de Lanoy made a will on 26 April 1654. It was probated 8/15 Dec 1661. They mention three children: Abraham, Pieter, and Maryken. Witnesses were Hendrick Jansz Van der Vin and Reynier Rycken, merchants.⁶
     Fredrick and Maria were listed in the NYDC member list of 1686 as "Frederick Gysbertsz. van den Berg and his wife Maria Lubberts" (member #117-8, name #145-6.)^7,8
     Cornelia Lubbertse and Marritie Lubbers were sisters.²
     Possibly they had another daughter Jacomyntie.³ Married name: de Lanoy. Married name: Van den Berge.

     Thys Lubbertszen was born in 1628 at de Rijp, Noord Holland, The Netherlands.³ He married Tryntje Jans on 10 October 1655 (He was Thys Lubbertszen, from de Ryp in Noordt hollt; she Tryntje Jans, from Amsterdam.)^4,1,5

     Tryntie Lubberts was born circa 1598/99 at Zwolle (Swoll), The Netherlands, (age at banns is 25.)^1,2,3 She married Hendrick Kip Sr., son of Hendrick Kype and Margaret de Marneil, at Amsterdam, The Netherlands.¹ (Banns on 20 April 1624 at Amsterdam. His witness was his brother-in-law Bloemert Sanders, hers her cousin Annetje Heijndricks.)³ Tryntie Lubberts died after 4 July 1657 at New Amsterdam (probably.)¹

     Tryntie Lubberts lived circa 1610 at Angelierstraat at Amsterdam, The Netherlands.^1,3
     Hendrick came to New Amsterdam before 1643, with his wife, and five children.² She and Hendrick had maybe another daughter Annatje, who is a sponsor at some of the baptisms.⁴ The baptisms of all children (except Femmetje) can be found in the Amsterdam baptism database.⁵
     The Meyer file has a marriage of Trijntje with Jan Waushaer (?spelling). It is not clear how this could happen, she was not a widow at her marriage with Hendrik, and she died before Hendrik!⁶ Name variation: Tryntie Droogh.⁷ Married name: Kip.

     Willem Lubberts married Dirkje Roelofse.²

     Willem Lubberts had one more child, Aeltien, bp. in Meppel in 1650, but she must have died soon, as another Aeltien is bp. in 1651.³
     Willem came to New Netherland from Amsterdam on "De Hoop" (Hope) with his wife and 6 children, aged 19, 16, 9, 7, 4 and an infant. The ship arrived in New Amsterdam on 29 Jun 1662. Also on board was his brother Lubbert and his family.^4,5 Willem Lubberts lived at Flatlands, NY.² Name variation: William Lubbertsen Van Westervelt.²

     Anna Lubi married Mattheus Van Nieukirk, son of Cornelis Van Nieuwkirk, on 14 December 1670.¹ (Banns on 27 November 1670 at Bergen, NJ.)¹ Anna Lubi died on 20 December 1685 at Bergen, NJ.¹

Married by the minister at New York, 4 Sep 1672.)² Jacob Lubi died in June 1691 at Bergen, NJ.¹ He was buried on 11 June 1691 in Bergen.¹

     Aefje Lucas was baptized on 10 February 1675 at New York City (DRC) (sponsors: Jan Stephenszen and Lysbeth Lucas.)¹ She married Cornelis Clopper, son of Cornelis Jansen Clopper and Heyltje Pieters, on 24 May 1696 at New York City (DRC.)^2,3 (Banns on 1 May 1696. He was Cornelis Klopper, jm from N. Yorck; she Aefje Lucas, jd from N. Yorck, both living here.)³

     Andries Luycaszen married Jannetje Sebyns.¹

     Andries Luycaszen was a skipper of a sailing vessel; 'gauger of Barrels'; and fire warden at New Amsterdam.² Andries was from Denmark.¹
     Gertruyd Andriessen cannot be a daughter of Andries Luycaszen; he was from Denmark, and may have lived in Amsterdam; she was from Doesburg, and she is older than the children of Andries. Name variation: Andries Lucaysen.²

     Andries Lucas was baptized on 1 November 1662 at New York City (DRC) (sponsors: Jan Joosten and Wyntie.)¹ He died before 1667.¹

     BC Families E File states that Elbert Lucasse, son of Lucas Eldertsen and Anna Snedicer is probably the same as Eldert Lucasz, who married Styntie Hendricks. However, the first is bp. in Oct 1663, the second has his first child in Dec 1677, so unless he was bp. at a later age, he would have been barely 14 at the birth of the child.^3,4

     Eldert Lucasz married Stintie Hendricks.² Eldert Lucasz died before April 1722.¹

     Eldert Lucasz made a will on 23 February 1714/15. It was proved 17 Apr 1722. He was of Jamaica, Queens County. He mentions his wife Stintie; his son Lucas Eldertsen; his daughters Anne, wife of Hans Bergen; Rachel, wife of Adam Smith; and Egerrtie, wife of Abraham Covert; grandchildren Johanes and Grace Eldertsen, children of son Johanes, dec'd; son Hendrick Eldertsen.      Eldert Lucassen was baptized on 27 October 1704 at Jamaica, NY, (DRC) (sponsors: Eldert Lucasen and Stijntie Lucasen; father Lucas ELderton, mother Jannetie Elderton.)^1,2 He married Ebbe. They had a child Lucas, bp. Mar 1733 in Jamaica (sponosrs: Hendrik Elberts and Jannetie Elberts.)^1,3

     Elsje Lucas was from N. Yorke when she married.³ She was baptized on 22 November 1662 at New York City (DRC) (sponsors: Hans Tryper, Herman Smeeman, and Marritje Hans; father Lucas Dirckszen, mother Annetje Cornelis.)⁴ She married Egbert Fockenszen, son of Focke Janszen and Grietje Hendricks, on 26 March 1678 at New York City (DRC.)^1,3,5 (Banns on 3 March 1678. He was Egbert Fockenszen, jm from 't landschap Drenthe; she Elsje Lucas, jd from N. Yorke, both liv. at the Bouwerye.)³

     Egbert and Elsje are listed as members of the NYDC on 4 Mar 1680: "Egbert Fockens, Elsje Lucas;" and on the list of 1686 as "Egbert Fockenszen and his wife Elsje Lucas" (member # 547-8, name #682-3.)^6,7,8
     Both Konight and BC-Families Hermans File have a 2nd marriage with Thomas Rainsford for Elsje on 12 Apr 1705 (Olivetree has: Thomas Rantforz with Elsje Van den Berg, wid. (no name) 12 April 1705, with license) But both also have that Egbert made his will on 7 Jun 1705, which is after the date reported for his wife's 2nd marriage. Was the date of the will a transcription typo, should it be 7 Jan? Konight made a note that she checked both the will and the corrections.
     There is another Elsje Lucas, daughter of Lucas Elbertszen and Anna Snedecker. Quite a few sponsors at the baptisms of Egbert and Elsje's children seem to be related to that second Elsje.^9,10,11,12 Name variation: Elsie Lucas Vandenburg.¹³ Name variation: Elsje Vandenberg.¹⁴ Married name: Heermans.

     The 1900 census lists Garret Lucas and Nellie at (#234) at Orvil Township, Bergen County, NJ, with two sons: John (Nov 1890) and Garret (Oct 1895), both born in NJ.¹ Garret Lucas was a farm laborer.¹ The 1910 census lists Garret Lucas and Nellie at (#77) at Ho-Ho-Kus Borough, Bergen County, NJ, with three sons: John W. (19), Garret (14), and Herbert (7), all born in NJ.² The 1920 census listed Garret Lucas in Stephen T and Sarah's household at East Saddle River Road (#94) at Ho-Ho-Kus Borough, Bergen County, NJ.³ His parents were born in Holland.^1,2,4
