Mary Thompson (1763-1839)

Mary Thompson was born 24 Apr 1763, daughter of Joseph Thompson. She was my son-in-law’s fifth great-grandmother. So far I don’t know where she was born, my source(1) concentrated on her husband’s side. To be honest, I don’t even know where the birth date comes from.

She married William David Jenkins in 1781. The records of the Bush River Monthly Meeting(2) state that William married out of unity. But it also states that in 1806 William and family were granted certificate to go to Little Miami MM in Ohio. According to Jenkins, Mary’s family was also listed in the Bush River records before 1781, but they are not in the records on FamilySearch.

William died in Ohio in 1813, and is buried in Pearson Cemetery in Miami County. His burial is on Find-a-Grave, unfortunately not yet with a photo.

Mary remarried after his death, and died in 1839 in Concord Township, Ohio. According to Jenkins she is buried in the same cemetery, but she is not on Find-a-Grave.

One thing is clear: lots more research to do on Mary!
