Christopher Tiffany (1639-)

Christopher Tiffany was baptized 31 Mar 1639 in St. John Hackney in London, as son of Henry Tiffany and Elizabeth.(1) He is my son-in-law’s 8th great-grand-uncle. Nothing more is known about him, but his eldest brother Humphrey came to Massachusetts before 22 Jan 1663(2) and left a lot of progeny.

Humphrey’s son James married twice, and left a will in 1732, in which he mentions all his 16 surviving children (son Jonathan had died young, daughter Elizabeth was deceased, but he mentions her children.)

My son-in-law’s ancestors (at least the ancestors of his paternal grandmother) came to the New World so early that there are plenty of famous names in the family, but connections with famous people are mostly only hearsay. But there is a connection with Lewis Comfort Tiffany: both he and my son-in-law descend from Humphrey’s son James: Lewis from his second son James (1697-1776), my son-in-law from John (1711-1788), which would make them 5th cousins 4x removed.
