Esther was born 12 Jan 1824 in Kirrweiler, Germany, the daughter of Michael Süß and Gudel Moyses. Her parent’s address was Schloss-gasse 109 (The link goes to Schloss-Straße 109, but it looks possible that this was in an small alley off the main street). Esther is my husband’s 2nd great-grandmother on his mother’s side.
In 1840, at the age of 16, she married Jacob Mayer in Maikammer. He was a widower, his first wife had died in 1839. I don’t know whether they had any children, and if Esther, at her young age, was expected to care for even younger children. It seems that she and Jacob had only one daughter together.
Kirrweiler and Maikammer are right next door to each other (at least in one map, although there seem to be three different pieces outlined in different sides of Maikammer), and the Jewish cemetery seems to be shared. However, I have not been able to find out where and when she died. Her daughter moves to Landstuhl, a town about 60 km away as the crow flies, and where my mother-in-law was born.
And yes, I am trying to get into mapping the ancestral towns, hence all the google links.
