Elizabeth Parmenter (1672- ) and Hannah Root (1677- )

Elizabeth Parmenter was born 9 Dec 1672 (345 yrs ago) in Sudbury, MA, and Hannah Root 5 years later on 9 Dec 1677 in Westfield, MA. Both are 7th great-grandaunts of my son-in-law.

Elizabeth Parmenter’s immigrant ancestors were John Parmenter and Bridget, who came to Roxbury, MA in 1639; James Cutler, who came to Watertown, MA in 1635 with his first wife Anna; and James’ second wife Mary, widow of Thomas King, she was in Massachusetts before 1645.

Hannah Root’s immigrant ancestors were John Root, who came to the same place on the “Hercules” before 1640; Thomas Kilbourne and Frances Moody, who came to Wethersfield, CT on the “Increase” in 1635; and Robert Ashley, who came to Springfield, MA before 1640, where he married the widow Horton in 1641

It has been interesting to study this side of the family, the family history and the country’s history intertwine, and the small events in their personal lives had repercussions in the larger events of the country.
