Marinus Johannes Broekman was born on 22 Jul 1879 in Amsterdam.1,4,2 Marinus Johannes was baptized (Ev. Luth.) on 17 Aug 1879 at Amsterdam.5 He married Rosalia Voss, daughter of Joseph Voss and Bertha Lichtenstein, on 5 May 1904 at Jülich.2,3,6 He died on 5 Sep 1917 in Malang, Java, (Toeren)3,7, and was buried in 1917 in the Klod Jenglor Cemetery (div. XI, #625) at Malang.8
Other information:
The remains in the former Dutch cemetery 'Klodjen Lor' in Malang were reburied in 1963 in a mass grave in the Sukun cemetery[:CIT:]Indische Graven. No longer accessible (2023).[:CIT] He and Rosalia Voss lived at Römerstr. 31a in Jülich.9

Mar, Rosalia and Marinus Joseph went in Mar 1907 by boat through the Suez Canal to the Dutch East Indies. We have a number of postcards that she sent to her familie in Julich. Mar travelled on 5 Sep 1912 on the Grotius to Amsterdam from Batavia.11

She was build in 1907 on the wharf Fijenoord in Rotterdam for the Stoomvaart Mij. 'Nederland' in Amsterdam. She was 128 m long, capacity 5.8 ton, and could accomodate 197 passagers. In 1928 she was chartered by the Holland West-Afrika Lijn, and sold for scrap in 1931. She was scrapped in 1934 in Hendrik Ido Ambacht.
