John was baptized on 2 Jul 1597 at Bengeworth, Worchestershire, England.2,1 He married Margaret Moore in 1618 at Bengeworth.2,1 He died shortly after 22 May 1671 in Duxbury because his son was called Jr. on May 22, but the document was altered to call him Sr.2

Other information:

John Washburn was a tailor.2 John immigrated in 1632 to Plymouth Colony.2
He removes to Duxbury, as he is in the lists of people, who have taken the freeman's oath there. In the later lists he is John Washburn, Sen. He served on several juries, and is appointed surveyor of highways on 5 Mar 1638/9, and on 6 Jun 1649. On 4 March 1650/1 he was fined for failing to mend the highways2 He was taxed in 1633, but not in 1634, and in March of 1635 he purchased some land. This seems to indicate, that he returned to England in 1634 to arrange his family's passage, then returned to Duxbury to prepare for their coming.2
John Washburn is mentioned in "Washburn Family in America" in the chapter "The old Washbourne Family Tree" (pg. 21). His descendants are branch A, and start at pg. 58. The organization of the book is rather confusing. Joseph Washburn is listed as unconnected on pg. 634 (The book has no page numbers, archive.org assigns scan numbers). Ebenezer Washburn (A2C5, pg. 187) is listed as descendant of John, but son Joseph has no marriage listed, and only one son, Samuel, b. 1784.3
