George Parmenter made a will on 8 May 1591. It was proved 12 Feb 1591/2 by Alice and Robert Parmenter..
He wishes to be buried in churchyard of Over Yeldham, and leaves 3s. 4d. to the poor of Over Yeldham, and 2s to the poor of Tylberye. He leaves his wife Alice and son Robert the lease of his farm, where he now live. To his wife Alice for life his freehold and land in Over Yeldham called Madges, which at her death will go to his son Edward or his heirs. Also to his said wife his copyhold lands and tenements in Tilbery, which after her death will go his son Robert or his heirs, and he will have to pay his sisters or their children: Christian £6, Katherine £6, Jone, and to Alice 40s, to his son George £4, to Elisabeth, daughter of his son Richard 20s, to Robert Page 6s 8d, and to Jone Stainer, who is living with him 6s 8d. He gave to Edward and Susan Parmenter, son and daughter of my son Edward 40s, which has to be paid by his son William a year after he gets the land called Bushaleyes. To wife Alice the just mentioned three and a half acre of land, which will go to his son William after her death. To his daughter Christian a bullock. To wife Alice all household stuff, money and implements od household in his dwelling house. Residuary legatees and executors: wife Alice and son Robert. Supervisor: his son George, for which he will get 3s 4d. To wife Alice for life 2 acres of land in Downes, that he bought from his son George, with reversion at her decease to his son Robert Parmenter. He has surrendered his copyhold lands in Tilbury into the hands of the Lord of the Manor by the hands of William Parmenter in the presence of Mathewe Coldham (here "John P'ment his brother" was crossed out). To his grandson William Parminter of Cavendish 8 bushels of barley.
He signs by mark. Witnesses were Edward Raynsford, Roger Barrow Jun., and John Harding.4

     During his lifetime he held lands and goods, and appeared in manorial records of Tilbury-Juxta-Clare (1558) and subsidy rolls for Ovington (1565-66), and Little Yeldham (1542-4, 1571-2.)5
     His father may have been the George Parmenter, who appears with him in the lay subsidy rolls for Little Yeldham in 1542-4. A brother John Parmenter is mentioned in his will (but the name is crossed out), and who is listed in the 1565-6 and 1571-2 lay subsidy rolls for Tilbury-Juxta-Clare. A Robert Parmenter is buried in Little Yeldham on 1 May 1594 and could also be a brother.6
