Hendrik Boeschen declares that around twelve this afternoon, in the house of Ernst Boom, he started to talk with Berent ten Bruggencate about the Miltia Companies, and he told B. ten Bruggenkate that he had been the first to encourage the people of Vriesenveen to train, but that he also had been the first to quit, and that Berent ten Bruggencate had hit him in the mouth, and he started to bleed, and so his honor was hurt, and he was in pain. He wants satisfaction, so he has sued him Berent ten Bruggencate today and he also declares before the court: That Berent ten Bruggencate Hzn will be condemned to pay five gold ducates to the poor relief, and the court costs, and that he will be ordered to pay bail.
Then Berent ten Bruggencate Hermz declares that it is true he talked with the plaintiff about the Militia Companies at the time and place mentioned, and that he had hit him in the mouth, but that the plaintiff himself had given cause, because when he (Berent) said that it would be better if all inhabitants of Vriesenveen would train together, rather than in two Companies, the plaintiff had answered "I don't want to talk about it with you, you are a defector." Because of this abuse, he lost his temper and hit him with his hand under the nose. Instead of the plaintiff suing him, he is owed reparation of honor. (Both stick to their version)
Decretum: Decision will be rendered on the first normal courtday after Easter.
Gerrit ten Bruggencate Abz pays the bail, and Barent can go home.
