Other information:

Family tradition maintains that Margaret was descended from an Indian chief named Brant. However, Marj. Agnew does not support this. For Nelson's account see here.1,6

Margaret could be the daughter of Samuel William Brant and Hannah Mulford, who married 1 Nov 1744 in Elizabethtown. She is than born 20 yrs into the marriage. This is possible, but I am not convinced. The wills so far are not particularly helpful:

NJ Archives, XXL, pg. 145 ( vol. 23, Abstracts of Wills, vol. 1, pg. 394). Also in Vol. 21, New Jersey Patents and deeds 1664-1703, ed.
