Jan Harmsen ten Bruggenkate was from in Almelo at his marriage.1 He married Fenneke Harmsen ten Bruggenkate, daughter of Herman ten Bruggencate and Geesken Rompelman,1,6,2 (banns (NH) 14 May 1702, Almelo.)1 He died b 1732, because he died before Geesken's marriage.7

Jan Harmsen ten Bruggenkate and Fenneke Harmsen ten Bruggenkate made a will in Feb 1728. They make each other as heir, unless the survivor remarries. They name their three children, namely Geesken ten Bruggencate, Hermen ten Bruggencate and Marijke ten Bruggencate, sole heir.2

Gerrit ten Bruggencate, Gradus Rompelman and his wife Geertjen ten Bruggencate, Jan ten Bruggencate and his wife Fenneken ten Bruggencate and Gerrit Rompelman and Egbert Rompelman as guardian over the minor children of Burgemeester Harmen ten Bruggencate, took out a mortgage with Lucas van Kleef, merchant in Zwolle, with as collateral their parental house, between the house of Waander van Oonk and that of Jan Jansen Kippers.8

Gerrit ten Bruggencate, Lambert ten Bruggencate, Jan ten Bruggencate and Gradus Rompelman, with their resp. wives Berendje ten Bruggencate, Janna Hagedoorn, Fenneken ten Bruggencate, and Geertjen ten Bruggencate, and also Gerrit Rompelman as guardian over the minor children of Jan ten Bruggenkate and Hermen ten Bruggencate, all heirs of the late Burgemeester Herman ten Bruggencate, conveyed, their house, and the rear house until the ditch, between the house of Waander van Oonk en dat van Jan Jansen Kippers. The buyer is not mentioned.6

Jan ten Bruggencate, his wife Fenneken ten Bruggencate, as well as the widow of Gerrit ten Bruggencate conveyed to Adolph Hendrik Graaf van Rechteren, and his wife Sophia Juliana Rijksgravinne van Castell, a parcel hay land in the Schuimer, behind the Erve Schuilenbergh, next to the parcel hay land, that the Count had bought from the estate of the late widow Hoedemaker.9
