Barend Salomonson was born on 23 Apr 1825 in Stad Almelo. The birth was registered by his father Godfried Salomonson and the witnesses Wolter Hagedoorn and Hendrik Hanterman.1 He married Sarah Augusta Critchley on 5 Sep 1853 in Stad Almelo (She was b. on Man (GB), 19 May 1824, daughter of John Francis Critchley and Frances Tonge, both deceased)2 (banns 21 Aug 1853, Stad Almelo.)2

Barend Salomonson had at least four children: Godfray (20 Apr 1846), John Henry (20 Aug 1848), Francis Bernard (10 Mar 1850), qnd Alfred Ashton (11 Nov 1852). They were acknowledged at the marriage and were born in Manchester.2
Acc. to the marriage certificate they were living in Almelo, and before that in Manchester. They probably returned to England shortly after the marriage, because there are no other data in Almelo and The Netherlands.
