Jan and Marrichjen Fransen (1703-)
Jan and Marrichjen were baptized 29 Apr 1703 in the Dutch Reformed Church in Oude Pekela, Groningen. They were children of Frans Hindricks and Albertje Olcherts, my 7th great-grandparents.
Jan probably did not live very long; a Jantje is baptized in 1706, and Jan is not mentioned among the heirs of Frans and Albertje in 1747. Marrichjen married in 1726 and has six children baptized in Nieuwe Pekela.
Both Frans and Albertje are dead-ends, and the names of the children are not very helpful. Their first child Hilletje could be named for Frans’ father Hindrik, and there is an Olchert for Albertje’s father; but the names in between are problematic. Searching in allegroningers for the combination Hendrik and Frans does give a baptism for Frans, son of Hindrick Fransen and Grietien Hindricks (3 Jan 1671 in Groningen), which could explain the last child Grietien in 1711. But Groningen is a long way off from Pekela.
Searching for Olcher*/Olger* with either Jan*, Mar* or P*t* gives me:
Olchert Jansen and Geertruit Peters, who marry and have seven children in Zuidhorn, but no Albertje; but it would explain Jan and Pieter. Zuidhorn is about 50 km from Pekela.
Olger Everts and Geesje (Alberts/Olgers) who have five children baptized in Groningen, but no Albertje. Albertje could have been named for Geesje’s father, but she does not name a daughter Geesje.
In other words, all this searching does not really solve any problems. There don’t seem to be any marriage contracts for these people.(1) Without more access to court records, which are filmed by the LDS but are not digitized yet, I won’t get much further.
