Eleonora Feszenmayer (1813-a1855)
Eleonora was born 19 Mar 1813 in Ballenberg, Germany, in Baden-Wurttemburg, daughter of Franz Anton Feszenmayer and Amalia Kronlein. She is my son-in-law’s third great-grandmother. She had at least an older sister Adelheid, but so far no other siblings are known.
Ballenberg seems a rather small village right now, but it must have been a city in the then Grand Dutchy of Baden; and Eleanora’s father was the City Clerk. The present Google overview does not show any remnants of walls, however.
They were Roman Catholic, and Eleanora and her husband Gabriel Deiszler had 10 children baptized in the RC Church in Ballenberg. The extract from the Catholic Church Rectory in Ballenberg in my files only lists 7, but FamilySearch “German Births and Baptisms” has three more; these probably died young (although only in one case the database supplies a death date. The corresponding database “German Death and Burials” does not list any of Eleanora’s children. But the images are on FamilySearch, if I can get to a Family History Center. It is possible I got these death dates from Ancestry, I will need to check that also.
Eleanora’s three eldest daughters went to America: Amalia and Maria in 1853 on the ‘Hansa’, Theresia in 1855 on the ‘R.L. Gilcrest.’ It seems only Amalia goes on to have offspring in the US. I have not yet pursued possible descendants in Germany.
While going over Eleanora’s data, I realized, I had done several things wrong: I had the source for all children as the church extract (which was not true, only 7 children are listed in the extract, all children are listed in FamilySearch), and I have death dates that have no source. So need to fix those errors! Back to the drawingboard!
