In the 1940 census he was listed as a traveling salesman in textiles.6,11,7 Janice was born in 1906 in Massachusetts.11 Thomas and Janice lived in 1935 in Fair Lawn.11 Thomas and Janice had a daughter Gaye.11 Gaye was born in 1937 in New Jersey.11

     Richard Devereaux is listed at the same address in 1946-48, and Robert Devereaux is listed in 1950. It is possible that the directory contains errors here; both the 1930 and 1940 census of Manhattan, NY have a Joseph Devereaux, wife Catherine, and children Dorothy and Richard. However the father is a private chauffeur.
Joseph Devereaux married Catherine.12 Joseph Devereaux was in 1946 in awnings in NY.12
Robert Devereaux was in 1946 a clerk in NY.12
Richard Devereaux married Dorothy (she is not listed in 1950.)12 Richard Devereaux was in 1950 a clerk in NY.13
