     Gerrit Hendrik Broekman was born on 19 Apr 1824 in Wassenaar.1,2 He married Catherina Elizabeth Ament on 10 Apr 1851 at Amsterdam.3,4 He died on 13 Jan 1895 in Amsterdam.5 There was a death notice in the Nieuws van de Dag on 17 Jan 1895, in which his wife and children were mentioned.5

Gerrit Hendrik Broekman was a blacksmith. In 1881 he was an engineer3,6 He transfers his company, located in the Stormsteeg K433 to Mr. R. Meijer on 6 Apr 1857.7
     At least bt 1866 - 1879 he had a company at Roeters Island. The zoo "Artis" was one of his customers. He made and repaired tools for them8 In 1895 the firm G.H. Broekman Lzn. received a medal and certificate on the World Fair in Amsterdam. It was created by Vaughton, made of copper, measured 4.2 x 4.2 x .4 cm and weighed 35.68 grams.9
