     Doede Roelfs Kleve was born on 29 Nov 1803 in Oude Pekela.1,2,3 Doede was baptized on 3 Dec 1803 at Oude Pekela.1 He married Catherina Anna Verbieste on 27 Jul 1828.4 He died on 25 Jan 1868.5

Announcement (year 1845): In Rotterdam is the Dutch barque 'Laurens Koster', captain D. R. Kleve, ready to take on goods and passengers for Batavia. Info at the office of Kuyper, van Dam en Smeer en Hudig en Blokhuizen.6

     From the Maritime Museum Prins Hendrik in Rotterdam (translation):
The barque 'Laurens Koster' 560 ton, was built in 1840 in "Yssel" (prob. Capelle a/d/IJssel) for the shipping firm D. Dunlop in Rotterdam. Captain (at least from 1844) was D. R. Kleve. This ship was sold to the firm De Groet Roelants & Co. in Schiedam in 1857. D. R. Kleve now becomes captain of the barque "Cornelis Anthonie", 640 tons, owned by De Vletter & Co. in Rotterdam. This bark was build in 1857 and sold to Van Zeijlen & Decker in Rotterdam. D. R. Kleve then became captain of the brig "Heilige Willebrordus", 340 tons, build in 1851, owned by J.D.Meijer Jhz in Schiedam. He was captain from 1860-1862. This ship was wrecked on Aug 29, 1862 on the Lamack Islands (?)
D. R. Kleve was a member of the Captains organization "Maatschappij tot nut der zeevaart" (Society for the benefit of the maritime trade) under #R176. He is last mentioned in 1867.7
