Thomas was from Chester County, Pennsylvania at his marriage.2 He (1) married (Quaker) Elizabeth Fincher, daughter of John Fincher and Martha Taylor, 2 9 Mo. 1722 at London Grove (Friends Meeting), Chester County, Pennsylvania.1,3,4 He (2) married Mary Cooke in 1730 at Chester County, Pennsylvania.1,2,4

Other information:

They are condemned by the New Garden MM for misconduct, because of their civil marriage.2
Thomas Cox and Mary Cooke had 5 children: Mary, Peter, Thomas, Ann, and Richard.1
In 1733 Thomas sold his land in Chester, and moved to York County, PA.4
Originally Thmas and John's parents were supposed to be Willam and Amy. However, a William and Amy Cox have been identified in Holy Trinity Church (Old Swede) in New Castle County, DE. They have children baptized there between 1716 and 1728, but no John or Thomas. So this couple is not the parents of our Thomas.4,2
But there was another William Cox (b. England 1658), who could be the father of Thomas and John (John was the administrator of his father William's estate in 1642-3)
A possible family group would be
1. John Cox (b. 1688-90, Eng.) m. ca. 1713 Mary _________
2. Richard Cox m. Elizabeth Scarlett and Mary _________
3 Sarah Cox m. Thomas Leach in 1712 may have been of this family
4. Joseph Cox may have been of this family
5. William Cox m. Catherine Kinkey, daughter of Harmon Kinkey and Margery ______
6. Ann Cox (?) m. Casparus Garretson, 1713
7. Thomas Cox m. (1) Elizabeth Fincher 2 Sept. 1722 and (2) Mary Cooke (perhaps daughter of Peter Cooke)
8. Amy Cox m. John Allen, 1719 “They did not move to N.C.”

There are definitively two John Cox, one living in Kennett Twp, and coming with certificate from England to Kennett MM in 1708 (with possible son John Cox, Jr, who married Hannah Jenkins in 1720 in Kennett MM), and one living in New Garden/London Grove Twp, who was married to Mary (possible son John Cox, Jr. married Mary Harlan in 1735 in New Garden MM); he is prob. the one who moved to Warrington MM/ York Co. PA and eventually on to Orange Co. NC.
There are also two Richard Cox, again one in Kennett Twp (m. Margaret Potts), and one in London Grove (married to (1) Elizabeth Scarlet, and (2) Mary). These last sell their land in London Grove in 1741 and move to York Co. PA.
Joseph, William, and Ann seem to only appear in the Kennett MM minutes.
Amy's husband John Allen was of Ireland, and is buried at London Grove. She was of Centure MM, her parents were not recorded.4
