     Nathaniel Clapp was born on 15 Sep 1640 in Dorchester, Massachusetts.2 He married Elisabeth Smith on 31 Mar 1668 at Dorchester.2 He died on 16 May 1707 in Dorchester.2

     He was a constable of Dorchester in 1671. His eldest son Nathaniel went to Harvard College, graduating in 1690, and became a minister in Newport, R.I.2
Nathaniel Clapp made a will on 22 Apr 1707. He gives his children Nathaniel, John, Jonathan and Ebenezer Clapp and Elizabeth Summer each £60. He gives Jonathan the land on which his house stands, that he bought of his brother White, for his £60, as well as a piece of land that lies next to it. After his mother's decease, Jonathan will also get the orchard, that lies south of his land, for which he has to pay his mother yearly £1 20s if he wants to lease it. He leaves his (unnamed) grandchildren 6s each. He gives his wife his whole estate, minus the above bequests, and £20 to do with as she sees fit. After the death of his wife the estate will be divided equally among the children, with the oldest son Nathaniel getting a double share. He names his sons Jonathan and Ebenezer Clap as executors
