     Charles Jenkins was born on 1 Mar 1879 in Winamac, Indiana.2 He married Elsie Owens on 11 Nov 1899.2 He died on 12 Nov 1909 in Winamac, Indiana,2, and was buried on 15 Nov 1909 at Winamac.3 An obituary in the Pulasky County Democrat and the Winamac Republican on 18 Nov 1909.3

     He was a teacher at the Taylor School in Monroe Township, where he taught 22 students, ranging in age from 6 to 18. Here he also met his future wife. Later he became an undertaker in North Judson, Indiana, that was more lucrative than being a teacher.2 He lived while growing up at 535 Summit and North West in Winamac. This house was still standing in 1992.2 He and Elsie Owens lived at the time of his mother's death in North Judson.4
