Amsterdam

     The Vondelkade disappeared in 1903 through the closing of the Overtooms canal. The city council of Amsterdam decided on 16 Oct 1901 to close the canal. The southside used to be called the Vondelkade, the northside Overtoomse road. The photo shows the Overtooms canal in the 19th century, with the Vondelkade on the left.
