     There seems to be considerable confusion about Thomas Root (1646-1730) and Thomas Root (1648-1709).
1. Roote History and Biography of Thomas Root has Thomas Root (b. 1644 in Hartford, CT, as son of Thomas Root and an unknown wife, and mentions his wife Abigail (d. 1699). He lives most of his life in Northampton. They had five children. He married second wife Mary Kirkland in Lynn, MA
     2. Pindell Family also has Abigail Alvord married to Thomas Root, the son of Thomas Root and Elizabeth.
     3. Devlin had Thomas Root first married to Abigail Alvord, but as he was mostly in Springfield and Westfield, whereas Abigail married in Northampton, I believe she was in error.
     4. NEHGR has Thomas Root married (1) to Mary Gridley, and (2) Sarah Dumbleton
     5. Roote History has Thomas Root married (1) to Mary Spencer, (2) to Mary Spencer, and (3) to Sarah Dumbleton.11,2,12,13,6
