Ten Bruggencate Worldwide

     Gerardus Leonardus Bruist was born on 20 Apr 1808 in Breda.² He married Evertdina ten Bruggencate, daughter of Lambert ten Bruggencate and Aleida Claassen, on 17 May 1839 in Stad Almelo¹ (banns 5 May 1839, Stad Almelo).¹

Gerardus Leonardus Bruist was a civil servant in the tax department.^1,3 He lived at the time of his marriage for more than a year in Stad Almelo.¹ His parents were Jacobus Bartel Bruist and Magdalena Freling. His parents both lived in Zwolle, his father was a retired civil servant. They also had a son Willem Lubbertus.¹
     A postcard sent in 1901 to C.J.B Bruist at Graaf Florislaan 23, Hilversum by her cousin Willem. The directory lists A. Bruist at that address. The Hilversum genealogy site has Albertus as the father of Dorothea, who married in Hilversum in 1915, and was b. in Dussen (North Brabant) in 1885.⁴ The Regional Archive Langstraat has Albertus as the father of 4 children, one of whom died young; Cornelia Janna Berendina (b. 9 Dec 1882), Wilhelmina Lubberta (b. 31 Mar 1884, d. 5 Jun 1884), Dorothea Henrietta Johanna (b. 4 Jul 1885), Magdalena Jacoba (b. 25 Apr 1888).
     Albertus (b. Zwolle) was the son of Willem Lubertus and Janna Berendina Bosch; they also had a son Willem Lubbertus (b. Wierden; this is prob. cousin Willem who sent the card), who died in 1916. Willem Lubertus, the father, died in 1885, and was a son of Jacobus Bartelt Brens or Bruist and Magdalena Freling; and so a brother of Gerardus Leonardus.^5,6
