     Jan ten Bruggencate was born on 19 Dec 1871 in Stad Almelo.1 He married Margaretha Catherina Coster on 14 Nov 1907 in Amsterdam.1,2,4 He died on 22 Jan 1952 in Albergen3,1, and was buried on 25 Jan 1952 in the Dutch Reformed Cemetery in Tubbergen.3 An death notice appeared and mentioned his wife, son and grandchildren.3

     Jan started at age 17 a brickyard just outside Albergen, together with 2 other shareholders.5,6
Jan ten Bruggencate was c 1900 a nurseryman, and fruitbreeder.1,5 He and Margaretha Catherina Coster lived at Maria Hoeve, Tichelweg in Albergen, near the Almelo-Nordhorn Canal5 Jan was a collector of antiquities from Twente. His house was known all over the country as a museum, and received official recognition as such in 1933. It existed until 1956.5
