     Ds. Bernardus ten Bruggencate was born on 7 Nov 1839 in Stad Almelo.5,2 Bernardus was baptized (Doopsgez.) on 28 Mar 1858 in Almelo.1 He married Cathalina van Calcar on 19 Oct 1863 in Groningen.3,6 He died on 27 Jan 1904 in Groningen.7,4,6 An death notice appeared and mentioned his wife.7

Ds. Bernardus ten Bruggencate and Ds. Jan ten Bruggencate studied for the ministry at the University of Amsterdam. Jan started in 1853, and received holy orders in 1858, Bernardus resp. in 1858 and 18648He was called to the pulpit of Baard en Blessum, and later to Noordbroek en Nieuw-Scheemda.5,6
     He taught Geert Veenhuizen (1857-1930), a pioneer in potato culture, botany and Latin nomenclature.9
