     Eliza Gardner Simmonds was born in 1811.^1,2 She (1) married Gerardus Albertus ten Bruggenkate, son of Albertus ten Bruggenkate and Wilhelmina Weijdeman, in 1844 in Kingston³ (license (Faculty Office, Archdiocese of Canterbury) 22 Oct 1844, London. Gerardus was a widower).¹ She (2) married Thomas Surrey in St. Peter's Church, Parish of St Mary on 30 Oct 1859 in Newington, Surrey.^2,4,5

     Gerardus has two daughters Eliza Sarah and Emma, whose mother is Eliza. This cannot be Eliza Gardner Simmonds, as Eliza Sarah is bapt. in 1831, and Emmain 1835; and Gerardus and Eliza marry in 1844. Are Eliza Sarah and Emma daughters of Eliza from a previous marriage, and did Gerardus adopt them? Or is there a 3rd marriage? Eliza Gardner ten Bruggenkate (married name).²
Eliza, the mother of Eliza Sarah cannot be the same person as Eliza Gardner Simmonds. unless the baptismal date is wrong, or Eliza has adopted the child.
