  • Is Jan the same person as Jan Scherphof? Jan Scherphof is neighbor in 1729 and 1750; Jan Derx van het Scherphoff marries in 1723, and makes a will in 1737. So he is living in 1729, but not necessariry in 1750. There is only one Jan Scherphof in the census, and none in the taxlist.
     Jan Derx van het Scherphoff was from in Rijssen at his marriage.1 He married (NH) Fenneken Egberts Satink on 28 May 1721 in Almelo (with certificate)1 (banns (NH) 4 May 1721, Almelo.)1

Jan Scherphof and Jennegien Egbers with her guardian Secr. Hein made a will on 15 Jan 1737. They give each other the use of the entire estate. They name Antonia Bakker and Janna Roesing sole heir. After the death of one of them, they give ƒ10.- to the Poor, which the survivor will have to pay.2

Stadsgericht, Almelo, 15 Aug 1753:
Jan Derxsen Scherphof, and his wife Jenneke took out a mortgage with Hermen Jolink, Burgemeester, and his wife Helena ten Stokkelaar and heirs, with as collateral their house and yard, where they are living, between the house of Burgemeester Bastiaens, where the widow of Jan Boom is living, and that of Henrik van der Scheer.3
