Thomas Wilkinson Furnas was born on 23 Mar 1768 in Bush River, South Carolina.3,2,4 He married Rachel Coate, daughter of John Coates and Rachel Wright, on 4 Jul 1792 at South Carolina.1,5,2,4 He died on 11 Oct 1846 in South Carolina.5,2,4

Although the Furnas Website and the Pearson Genealogy have him dying in South Carolina, it seems unlikely, as he is in Ohio in the 1820 and 1830 census. Unfortunately I cannot find him in the 1840 census.

1800 Fed. census (4 Aug): Household of Thomas Wilkinson Furnas, Newberry District, South Carolina. Household consists of 1 male 26-44 (Thomas Wilkinson), 1 female 26-44 (prob. his wife Rachel), 1 male 10-15, 1 male 15-25, and 3 females under 10 (prob. Mary and ?)6
1820 Fed. census (7 Aug): Household of Thomas Wilkinson Furnas, Monroe Township, Miami County, Ohio. Household consists of 1 male and 1 female 45+ (prob. Thomas and his wife), 1 male 16-18, 2 males 18-25 (William was prob. ne of them), and 1 female 15-25. One person was engaged in agriculture. Phineas Jenkins is on the next line.7
