     William Raper Blue was born on 12 Jul 1833 in Miami County, Ohio.2,1 He married Malissa Stoddard on 21 Oct 1860 at Monroe County.3,4,5 He died on 13 Jan 18632,1, and was buried in the National Cemetery at Springfield.2

During the Civil War he served in Comp. C of the 18th Iowa Infantry..
He enlisted on 29 Jul 1862 as a sergeant (aged 29, living at LaGrange), and later was a captain. He was wounded in the second Battle of Springfield, MO on 8 Jan 1863, and died in the military hospital 5 days later.7,8,2
