     Gerrit Jan Schutteman was born in Ambt Almelo.1 He was baptized (NH) on 3 Feb 1754 in Almelo.2 He married (NH) Janna Janmaat, daughter of Jannes van het Kroesenhuijs and Hendrina Hemminks, on 22 Oct 1797 in Almelo1 (banns (Gericht) 23 Sep 1797, Ambt Almelo.)1 He died on 20 Mar 1833 at Aalderinkhoek (wijk 5), house #185 in Ambt Almelo. Jannes Veerenhuis and Wolter Grobben were the witnesses.3

Census records:
In Almelo, in 1812:Gerrit Jan Schutteman officially adopted the name Schutteman for himself and his stepdaughters Hendrina and Maria.4
