#1. Hugo C.M. Wendel (from 1935 to 1973).
     From 1950 his wife Marie P.E. Wendel is the head of the household. His daughter and son-in-law Marie Louise and Richard B. live with her in 1950-1952 (See 325 Plaza Road North for their biography.)

     A new Colonial house at 5 Barry Place, Radburn, New Jersey was purchased by Professor Hugo C.M. Wendel of Long Island University through the City Housing Corporation.4
The value of the house in 1940 was $9,000.5

Hugo C.M. Wendel was born on 6 April 1884 in Germantown, Pennsylvania.5,6,7 Hugo Wendel married Marie P.E. in 1928.8,5,9,10 Hugo C.M. Wendel died on 16 January 1949 in Fair Lawn.6,10 (Obituary in the Daily News (NY, NY) on 18 January 1949.)6 Hugo C.M. Wendel was a professor in Brooklyn. In the census he is listed as a history professor at a college, in 1907 he was a clergyman in Trenton.8,5,7 He applied for a passport in 1907 and 1921. He was living in Trenton in 1907, and at the Faculty Club in Manhattan in 1921. He went abroad to study.7,11 He registered for the draft on 12 September 1910. He was an instructor at NY University at the time.12 Hugo C.M. Wendel appeared on the 1930 census as the head of household at Brooklyn, New York, with his wife Marie P.E., and their child Marie Louise. Enumerated with them was Eugenia-Martha Petersen, sister-in-law.9
Marie P.E. Wendel was born in 1897 in Germany.5 Marie P.E. Wendel immigrated in 1927 from Germany. She was not naturalized yet in 1930.9 Hugo and Marie had a daughter Marie Louise.5 Marie was born in 1930 in New York.5
