Rense Halma was born on 2 July 1853 in Ferwerderadeel, Friesland, The Netherlands.1,2,3 He married Johanna Halma in 1883.2 Rense Halma died on 22 November 1917 in Passaic County, New Jersey.1

His parents were Kornelis Renzes Halma and Wytske Eelkes Terpstra.3 He was a dry goods peddler in 1900, and a silk winder in 1910.4,2 Rense Halma immigrated on the Amsterdam, from Rotterdam, arriving 11 Oct 1881 in New York.5
