Cornelis Akershoek was born in December 1845 in The Netherlands.1,2 He married Cozina Fek in 1871.1,3 Cornelis Akershoek died on 11 December 1917 in Castle Hayne, New Hanover County, North Carolina.1 He was buried on 14 December 1917 in Wilmington.1

He was the publisher of a Holland newspaper.4 Cornelis Akershoek and Cozina Fek immigrated in 1869, but probably not together.3
